Way back in May 2017, I introduced you to my abiding affection for the 1 KANSAS FARMER signs found throughout Kansas. I hope you'll (re)read that post. Here's a photo of one of the signs "in the wild."
What I didn't tell you in 2017 is that just a year earlier, I had rescued/adopted* one of these great signs that had been been slapped down by those famous Kansas winds. The original signs are roughly 10 ft by 12 ft. I installed the sign (with a couple pieces still lost in a cornfield near Oskaloosa) on the backyard side of our garage.
A couple of years ago, we had to repaint the house and the sign lost its second home. As resilient as this sign is, it continued to suffer weathering. But I just couldn't say goodbye.
After much dreaming and puzzle fitting, I finally arrived at a new configuration for the pieces that showed the most life. This new sign is about 3 ft by 5 ft and - miraculously - still tells the same story!
I'm still praying for rain and rockin' the license plate!
* ... or maybe the sign rescued/adopted me!
